Over half of our business is with Independent Bottlers around the world. We have over 300 cask whisky trade clients who bottle casks with us.
Based on serious interest and the availability of the specific sample, the first sample of the cask the whisky trade clients are interested in buying is free. Once the cask has been purchased, and if the customer chooses to not bottle it straight away but instead mature it longer, the sample cost is approximately £50-£100 per cask (+ postage for the sample). Similarly, the regauge cost is approx. £50-£100. The price depends on the whisky cask and the warehouse where it is located. Cask Trade requests samples/ regauges from the specific warehouse and invoices the customer accordingly. This is part of our service based on Cask Trade being the Duty Representative for the whisky trade clients and holding casks under the customer’s name but under Cask Trade WOWGR (warehouse license).
Â
We ship internationally, the shipment is generally organised by the Cask Trade clients - however we can organise shipping through our courier partners. Customs and correct documents requirements are down to the whisky trade clients. A whisky cask can fit on 1 standard pallet which fits 100 cases of 6 x 70cl bottles or on an EU pallet which fits 64 cases of 6 x 70cl bottles. The empty cask can also be shipped to the customer at extra cost.
For a small fee, we can provide a health check for your whisky cask. This will inform you of the number of litres, the alcohol content, and a sample so we can accurately advise our whisky trade clients on how their cask is maturing.
Invoiced to our whisky trade clients every January in arrears – approximately £40-£50 for a hogshead or barrel and approximately £50-£60 for a sherry butt per year (dependent on the warehouse).
The reracking service costs approximately £150 + the cost of an empty cask which ranges approximately from £50 to £5,000 per cask. We can source the cask or the customer can; our whisky trade clients may need to move the whisky cask depending on the warehouse offering this service.
We work with several bottling halls directly and can arrange bottling with a bottler of the customer’s choice should they wish. The approximate costs of bottling and labelling £5-£6 per bottle including dry goods (glass bottle, cork, foil, and case of 6 card packaging). If organising the whisky bottling on the customer’s behalf, Cask Trade will add +10% admin fee on top of the bottling cost. For trade customers, we advise the customer to arrange bottling directly, therefore omitting the +10% admin fee. We can introduce whisky trade clients to bottling halls if they do not already use one of their choice. Please note the more bespoke, the more expensive the bottle.
Our whisky trade clients have the option to design their own label that will need to be SWA-approved prior to printing. We can assist you with each stage of the whisky labelling process.Â
We can offer a variety of different corks, foils, finishes, glassware and outer packaging. If you would like a gift box or bespoke bottle/packaging, this would be an extra cost.Â
Our dedicated bottling service is there as an option if required. We are not Independent Bottlers, but we can bottle for you.
