Welcome to Forres
In a milestone move that will elevate the cask ownership experience of its clients, Cask Trade has now opened a warehouse in Scotland. Situated in Speyside, Scotland’s biggest malt whisky region, our warehouse is located in Forres and can hold up to 25,000 casks.
Known as the flower of Scotland, Forres is a pretty, historical town in the north-east of Scotland, perfectly placed for visiting the Moray Coast, Speyside, Cairngorms and Aberdeenshire.
Just 30 minutes from Inverness and under two hours from Aberdeen, Forres is also featured in Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
The warehouse is surrounded by more than 50 world-renowned single malt distilleries and a range of hotels, making Forres the perfect place for customers to visit their cask and explore. Visitors can also enjoy the breathtaking landscapes, from stunning beaches on the Moray Firth to mountainous forests in the Cairngorms National Park.

Top three, lesser-known, distilleries
There are an abundance of distilleries in Moray Speyside including some well-known names such as The Macallan, The Glenlivet and Glenfiddich. However, our top three, lesser-known, recommendations are Strathisla Distillery, Benromach and Glen Moray.
You know you are in malt whisky country when you can detect the familiar, yet pungent, smell of yeasty malt wafting in the air. Once inside the distillery, the memorable smoky, spicy and floral notes of the gold liquid hang heavy, temptingly…
Strathisla Distillery is home to the legendary Chivas Regal and a beautiful listed building in Keith.

Benromach is located right next to our warehouse in Forres and the flagship distillery of Gordon MacPhail – one of the big historic independent bottlers of Scotland. A visit to Benromach is a great insight into small batch production at less than one million litres per year and they experiment with different yeasts and cask finishes.
The team at Glen Moray are brilliant. There is great warehouse access at the end of the tour and it has the best café of any distillery in Speyside for lunch. Glen Moray won best Speyside single malt for 2024 and also featured among Beyond The Cask’s top-performing distilleries for last year.
The Speyside Cooperage is also well worth a visit where you can watch casks being made.
Unrivalled beauty
Take in the stunning wildlife as you hike across the heather moors dotted with lochs and backed by peaks in the Cairngorms National Park.
You only have to take a peek at a map of the region to see how many castles shape the countryside. The Brodie Castle and Estate is a must-see highlight of the highlands.
Why not spend time on the water spotting seals and dolphins on the Moray Firth or kayaking up the River Spey?

Where to stay
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a place to stay. From the beautiful, boutique Dowans Hotel and The Mash Tun, with its iconic whisky bar and whisky and cigar shop, to The Craigellachie described by Conde Nast Traveller as “the oldest and greatest whisky hotel in the world.”

How to get there
Direct flights to Inverness from Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton, take between 1 hour 20 minutes and 1 hour 45 minutes.
Alternatively, take the Caledonian Sleeper train from London Euston to Inverness.
